When it comes to abortion, both sides, godless liberals and conservative Christians, are going to do what they can to justify their points. They've already made up their minds, presuppositions solidly in place sometimes to the point where logic, reason, and compassion are ignored (sorry conservative Christians but this IS true).
The arguments that are always given for why we must have abortion are normally hinged on the life of the mother or an incident of rape. Yet less than 1% of abortions are for this reason. It's a smoke screen argument to cover up the real excuses why women get abortions.
I like stats. They are no nonsense. They are what they are and you can't refute them. They are a direct reflection of what is being measured. They have no bias (unless the person who compiles them slants the information). When the stats purely speak for themselves, they can be powerful.
With that, we'll get into the top four reasons why women get an abortion counting down for the bottom to the top:
4. Don't Want To Be A Single Parent/Problem With Spouse
Being a single parent can be a very taxing ordeal. It's a high stress situation and if you're having marital problems on top of it, it can be doubly taxing. To make things worse, hormones work on the emotions and cause women to think and do things that are not healthy.

That being said, it's really not a reason to end the life of a child. What begins to coalesce in the mind of the mother is the world of "what ifs". If replayed long enough, they turn into being only possibilities to definite probabilities. Worry gets you no where and contributes to impaired outlook on life (Matthew 6:25-27).
3. Interfere With Work Or School
Though every excuse that will be listed is not justifiable from a biblical standpoint and is just lame, this has got to be the lamest of all. It is a reason stooped in nothing but self, based on a foundation of narcissism. It screams, "I will eliminate your future so I can have one." Yet there's no guarantee that the future plan is the future you will get (James 4:13-16) so the argument is a faulty one.
2. Cannot Afford The Child
On the outside, this looks like it may be a legitimate reason. Who wants to bring a baby into the world without being able to properly take care of them? Yet, there are thousands of people who have the ability to take care of a child but who can't have one. In that situation, it's win/win because lives are blessed, not taken when abortion is eliminated from the picture. It is a way of God providing what's needed (Isaiah 49:15)
1. Concern Or Responsibility To Others
This excuse is an all encapsulating one that can include any of the previous three. At it's core, it's caring more about what other people think. It has a strong underlying tone that an adulterous affair has taken place (Proverbs 6:32).
It's ironic that pro-abortionists fight for their right to continue infanticide and yet the number one reason that abortions are committed is because someone's 'choice' is being heavily influenced by the environment of the people they are around, effectively making it their choice.
However, if that environment changes to people who are pro-life, they switch to the argument that those people are interfering with that mother's 'choice'.
Not On
e Good Reason
Every one of these excuses are just that: excuses. Not reasons. In every case, it is the affect of bad or sinful decisions through a lack of wisdom that put them in the situation they are in. Promiscuity and fornication have devastating consequences on a person's whole being (1 Corinthians 6:15-20), the most dire ending in the murder of a child (Exodus 20:13). Yet, even then it doesn't have to be the end. Adoption is a viable answer and the research bears this out.
As Christians, we should be pushing adoption like there's no tomorrow from the very fact that we're a part of the family of God through that same method (Romans 8:14-15). Our prayer should be that of Deuteronomy 21:8-9:

Forgive, O Jehovah, thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and suffer not innocent blood to remain in the midst of thy people Israel. And the blood shall be forgiven them. So shalt thou put away the innocent blood from the midst of thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah.
